What makes a king?  Power, money, fame, all of it? Maybe it’s being a 350 foot tall, 164,000-pound lizard that can breathe fire.  Personally, my vote is the latter.  Who is this king you may ask?  Well, it’s Godzilla! Here comes Godzilla!

Godzilla first appeared on the movie scene in 1954 and has been terrifying audiences since.  Since the original apperance, there have been numerous sequels pitting Godzilla against his foes.  Some of these sequels have been good, some of them have not been, a good example here:

Did we need this?

Recall if you will, my previous post and rant about Hollywood being lazy which you may find all on this very blog! In 2014 we got the Godzilla reboot we needed. It was dark, it was gritty and it introduced a new generation to the fire-breathing atomic lizard. You may want to jog your memory:

2014 Godzilla

Godzilla makes his return about an hour into this movie, but only spends 11 minutes on screen, that’s ok because the tone is set. The King of the Monsters is back!  It’s obvious they are wanting to set up multiple sequels by adding in certain easter eggs, like the possibility of Mothra in other movies. There is also a potential clash with King Kong which *SPOILER* can be seen at the end credits of Kong Skull Island. I’ve taken the liberty to include the clip here for you.

The Final Showdown

Finally, you may be asking yourself what point am I getting at here?  Well, its to introduce you to  Godzilla: King of the Monsters releasing in May 2019.  This a direct sequel to the 2014 film and will pave the way for Godzilla vs Kong!  Who are you betting on? My money is on Godzilla!

LONG LIVE THE KING!
