Let’s face it, the Nintendo Switch is in a league of its own. Nintendo isn’t trying to compete with the over the top, amazing graphics being pushed by Microsoft with the Xbox One X or the Playstation 4 Pro, but it doesn’t matter. Nintendo, with the help of indie developer’s keeps hitting home run after home run. Nintendo has always been known for stellar first party games and now with the addition of indie support, the Switch has become a runaway success.

Here at Nerd Jock Blog, we are unashamed fan-boys of the Nintendo Switch. We all have an eclectic and unique taste in video games. We all have played many games over the past year. Here, in order of release date are our top five Switch games released in 2018. If you haven’t played one of these gems please click the image and you’ll be able to purchase directly from Amazon!

#1: Let’s Go Eevee, Pikachu, Developer: Game Freak


For anyone who played the original Pokemon Blue, Red or Yellow, this game is a must-have. Take a stroll down nostalgia lane, or heck just sit atop your friendly Onix and let him down the hard work.

Make your Pokémon journey to the Kanto region with your partner Pikachu or Eevee to become a top Pokémon Trainer as you battle other trainers. Use a throwing motion to catch Pokémon in the wild with either one Joy-Con controller or Poké Ball Plus accessory, which will light up, vibrate, and make sounds to bring your adventure to life. Share your adventure with family or friends in 2-player action on one system using a second Joy-Con or Poké Ball Plus (sold separately). #4: Moonlighter, Developer: 11 Bit Studios


Moonlight is an action RPG with rogue-little elements that demonstrates two sides of the coin – revealing everyday routines of will, an adventurous shopkeeper that secretly dreams of becoming a hero. During an archaeological excavation – a set of gates were discovered. People quickly realized that these ancient passages lead to different realms and Dimensions. Rynoka, a Small commercial village, was found near the excavation site – providing brave and reckless adventurers with treasures beyond measure.

If you are a fan of classic top-down Zelda games or love simulation style games in the style of Stardew Valley, pick this up today! This is certainly one of a kind and a fresh take on RPGs.


#5:Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Developer:  Nintendo, HAL Labs, Bandai Namco Games, Sora Ltd.


Gaming icons clash in the ultimate brawl you can play anytime, anywhere! Smash rivals off the stage as new characters Isabelle, Simon Belmont and King K. The team at Nerd Jock Blog give this two thumbs up if you’re looking for competitive multiplayer and wish to relive your youth. The single player wasn’t overlooked either by the developers. There is virtually infinite replayability with this title.
