America loves a good underdog story. America also loves a quick buck. This weekly blog post gives you both. I will bring you three weekly double digit underdogs that’ll deliver in the pocket book. All lines used for the purpose of this post will be from Vegasinsider.com.
Week one was so close to being amazing for the underdog picks. I went 1-2. Thankfully my Alabama State pick made me look like a genius with my 9.5 confidence rating. The other two games missed the spread by a combined 1.5 points, bad break, but in the words of Sir Elton John I’m still standing. Week 1 for me was a lot like week 1 of every season, exciting until you realize most teams have a lot of rust to shake off. Well, grab some WD-40 and lube up your picking machine with me.
Central Michigan @ #17 Wisconsin
Who I like: Central Michigan
Why: Both teams head into week 2 fresh off of home victories in week 1. I Central Michigan has a nice 400 mile trip around lake Michigan for what will be their biggest game of the year. They’ve tasted victory and believe in themselves. I hope they’re taking a bus ride to Madison so they have time to get agitated and angry. Pot is legal for recreational use in Michigan. The Chippewas will likely partake in the local culture and get the munchies…for badger! Keep an eye out for #5 Jonathan Ward to run through the badgers defense. The Central Michigan running back averaged 8.4 yards per touch in a 211 all purpose yards effort last week. Look for the Chippewas to cover easily.
Confidence Rating (1-10): 7
UTEP @ Texas Tech
Who I like: UTEP
Why: Texas Tech football isn’t what it used to be in recent years. Last week they only defeated FCS program Montana State by a score of 45-10 and that was with their QB throwing the ball 55 times. UTEP scored 36 points last week over Houston Baptist. UTEP will be ready for the Red Raiders this week and will put up points in a fast paced, light up the scoreboard type of game. The Miners will be doing just that, mining for gold and should easily cover the 34.5 point spread.
Confidence Rating (1-10): 6
New Mexico State @ #2 Alabama
Who I like: New Mexico State
Why: The Aggies got trounced in their week one match up against a tough #22 ranked Washington State team; (Jeff Tuel) isn’t walking through that door. New Mexico barely showed up in a 7-58 loss. I think the Aggies get a fire lit underneath them, find some self respect and score 10 points in week 2. I believe Alabama will have a hard time gearing up for this one after “battling” Duke in a week 1, 42-3 victory.
Confidence Rating (1-10): 9
